→ Mello - originally a nickname intended to be "ironic" and making fun; it stuck, losing the intended bite; used mostly by the inmates in his cell block but well-known in general
→ M - short and sweet; used mostly by allies and those he's on good terms with, but not limited to; he secretly kind of prefers being called M over being called Mello, partly because the somewhat cryptic use of only his initial reminds him of his mentor

→ blond hair, brushing his shoulders; cut unevenly and shaggy
→ blue eyes; vision weaker and sometimes unclear on left side (obviously not advertised)
